Kitchen House Cafe: Reviews & Ratings
I ordered the borscht — it comes with bread and garlic-cured pork fat. Everything was tasty, hearty, and felt homemade. The only thing was that the pork fat seemed a bit too salty for my taste, but that’s a matter of preference. The staff was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was nice. Overall, a very good experience — definitely worth trying.
It was my first experience with Georgian food and I was very impressed. Given the current wintry weather, it was the perfect comfort food. We enjoyed the Kharcho Georgian soup and the beef stew. Didn’t look like much but both were very hearty and filling. The eggplant salad and the traditional Khachapuri (boat shaped bread) were very tasty and delicious. I’d definitely come back again!
A truly cozy and authentic Georgian restaurant! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. The food is absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and full of traditional Georgian taste. The khinkali are juicy, the khachapuri is perfectly baked, and every dish is seasoned just right. The service is excellent: friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring without being intrusive. A wonderful place to relax, enjoy great food, and spend a pleasant evening. Highly recommended — we will definitely be coming back!
Georgian Ostri (beef stew) was very good. Egg plant Ajapsandal was homey and Chkmeruli, chicken made in garlic gravy was unique and good (it comes with bread). Happy with their food for sure. Service is slow but the staff is kind. Some may not speak good English so you may need to be mindful of that. As for us this meant this place is run by immigrants and adds to the authentic experience. Fun fact: The country of Georgia is known for being a cradle of wine. They have a page of menu dedicated to alcohol at this restaurant. Mind you there are two pages of menu.
A little gem hidden away, you could drive by it and not notice it. The food is great! They also offer a great selection of Georgian wines. It had been a while since we tried Georgian food, and this place didn’t disappoint. The service is what you would expect from a small family run business, everyone trying their best. The music is nostalgic and the vibe friendly. They would do really well if they upgraded their decor and moved closer to downtown Chicago! They would get on the guide, eater, all of it! My 5 stars for now. I’ll always visit when back in town. Highly recommended.
Stopped in totally at random and had the best experience. Everything was mouth watering delicious, kind service, authentic options. Will be back for sure. The weekend Belyashi and the Georgian Ostri were special stand outs for us. The spices were incredible, food that is warm and comforting and worth going out of the way to try. Drinks list also offers some unique regional options from Georgia, which were very good
What a great discovery! My friend suggested we try this Georgian restaurant, and we were both very pleasantly surprised. It's modest on the outside, but right away upon entering it's beautiful, comfortable, warm and inviting. Max, the owner, immediately welcomed us and waved us to the counter where we viewed the menu and put in an order. He took us to a booth and served the drinks and food. I had a light meal of soup while my friend had a rib entree. It was all fantastic. I'm looking forward to visiting again very soon with family and friends.
Visited this place on Saturday with family. The food was so flavored and delicious. We ordered hinkali, harcho soup, homemade potatoes, chicken in garlic gravy and very flavored beef . My kids love everything. The staff are very nice and friendly. The place are very cozy. Just one thing you maybe need to add of your menu is Georgian bread - lepeshka.
